Black Beach:In Cahuita, an excellent beach break, not well known and therefore not heavily visited. However, there are waves all year round The best conditions are in the early morning with swell from the south or east at almost any tide (L&S).
Isla Uvita: An island off the coast of Limon. Here you will find a good left. Isla Uvita is about a 20 minutes boat ride from Limon with passage available at certain times of the year only.
Manzanillo: A very fast beach break located 20 km from Puerto Viejo. Here you find rustic lodging and great Caribbean food. Located close to an unpaved road, and easy to get to. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Playa Bonita: A point/reef break known for its very thick, powerful and dangerous left. Located 5 km north of Limon (downtown). Puerto Viejo: A thick and voluminous wave that comes from deep water onto a shallow reef, also called "salsa brava", for its juice power. This place gets very big and tubular (legitimate big wave). Salsa is approximately a 3-1/2 hour drive from San Jose and there are restaurants and accommodations close to the point. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Playa Cocles: Great wave quality for experienced surfers. A beach break, right and left, 300-500 meters. Wind South, swell East. Strong curents.
